Research Interests

My research projects are focused on understanding the evolutionary and molecular mechanisms that facilitate and constrain the optimization of native or novel protein functions. One project is geared towards understanding the consequences of pleiotropy for the adaptive landscape and evolution of a monomeric enzyme. Another project is focused on understanding potential paths for protein-protein coevolution, such as a promiscuous intermediate that facilitates further adaptation and diversification.
